The Pat Cummins-led team went all the way to the finals but fell short of the title and was defeated by eventual champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – the same team that had defeated them in their tournament opener and Qualifier 1.

Overall, SRH played 17 matches in IPL 2024 and won 9 of them while losing 7 matches with one match ending in a no result due to rain.

Travis Head finished as the highest run scorer for the Hyderabad-based franchise with 567 runs from 15 matches that came at an average of 40.50 and a strike rate of 191.55.

Head’s histrionics with the bat enabled him to finish the league standings as the fourth highest run-getter and his strike rate of 191.55 was the sixth best in the 2024 season. But the revelation for SRH in 2024 was Abhishek Sharma who scored 484 runs from 16 matches at a stunning strike rate of 204.22 – that was the fourth highest in the 2024 season.

Batting with Travis Head at the top of the order, Abhishek Sharma led his team to explosive starts and was a part of multiple record-breaking partnerships.

During the 2024 season, SRH frequently scored more than 200 runs and twice set the IPL record for highest score (277 first, then 287).

In the 2024 edition, SRH breached the 250-run mark as many as three times smashing 287/3 – the highest score of the season against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 15 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Apart from Aussie Travis Head and India’s Abhishek Sharma, South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen also went all guns blazing for SRH in the 2024 season smashing 479 runs from 16 matches at a strike rate of 171.07.

But it was not just the batters that were responsible for SRH’s excellent run, the bowlers of the Orange Army also rose to the occasion frequently – most notably T Natarajan and captain Pat Cummins.

T Natarajan took 19 wickets from 14 matches at an average of 24.47 finishing at the fourth spot in the highest wicket-takers while Aussie pace spearhead Cummins scalped 18 wickets from 16 games at an average of 31.44.

T Natarajan’s spell of 4/19 against Delhi Capitals was the fourth best bowling figures of the 2024 season.

SRH made major strategic adjustments for the 2024 season. In place of Aiden Markram, Pat Cummins was named captain. The team's aggressive batting strategy produced their record-breaking totals. Their prior reputation as a bowling-centric team was broken with this change.

A strategic change, record-breaking achievements, and an impressive run to the finals characterized SRH's 2024 IPL campaign, indicating a promising path for upcoming seasons.
