CSK vs MI probable XIs, head-to-head IPL 2025: The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), the two most successful and most popular teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will square off in the second match of the double header on Sunday. The Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have each won the IPL trophy up to five times. The IPL championship was won by CSK in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023. The five IPL championships that MI won were in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
Often referred to as "El Clasico," the game between the two teams is scheduled to take place in Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday. Hardik Pandya, the captain of MI, will not be participating in this game. Pandya was suspended following MI's group-stage loss the previous season due to the team's slow-over-rate offensive against the Lucknow Super Giants in their most recent game. Pandya was banned because MI had failed to maintain the over-rates for the third time in 14 games.
MI will be led by Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of the India T20I team, with former captain Rohit Sharma set to give his team an explosive start. MI will also miss India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah due to injury.
CSK will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, who will have at his disposal the successful Indian pairing of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. But the biggest talking point of the match will be the comeback of former India and CSK captain MS Dhoni, who is once again set to raise the decibel levels at the Chepauk when he comes out to bat no matter what the situation of the match is.
CSK vs MI: Head-to-Head
MI have won 20 of their last 37 matches against CSK, but the Chennai-based team has won four of their last five clashes. Both teams failed to make it to the playoffs last season, with CSK finishing fifth and MI a horrifying tenth.
