Parivartini Ekadashi Significance

Parivartini Ekadashi marks a turning point in Chaturmas, the holy four-month period dedicated to penance and devotion. According to sacred texts, this day is especially auspicious for:

  • Gaining the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
  • Attaining spiritual progress and liberation (Moksha).
  • Overcoming past sins and karmic obstacles.
  • Beginning auspicious deeds like charity, rituals, or vows.

Devotees also worship Lord Vamana, the fifth incarnation of Vishnu, and remember the story of His victory over Demon King Bali, symbolizing the triumph of Dharma over Adharma.

Parivartini Ekadashi Vrat Katha

The vrat katha narrates how Lord Vishnu incarnated as Vamana to humble King Bali, who had become arrogant with his powers. Lord Vamana, in dwarf form, asked for three steps of land. With two steps, He covered the entire universe, and with the third, He placed His foot on Bali’s head, sending him to the netherworld. This story reminds devotees of humility, faith, and surrender to the Lord’s will.

Parivartini Ekadashi Fasting Rules

  • Devotees begin the fast from sunrise and avoid grains, pulses, and certain vegetables.
  • Only fruits, milk, and vrat-friendly food are consumed.
  • Chanting Vishnu Sahasranama, reciting Bhagavad Gita, and offering Tulsi leaves are considered highly auspicious.
  • Night vigil (Jagran) and devotional songs in praise of Lord Vishnu bring immense blessings.
  • Parana (breaking the fast) is done on the next day after Hari Vasara ends.

Parivartini Ekadashi 2025 is not only about fasting but also about devotion, humility, and connecting with Lord Vishnu. Observing this vrat with sincerity helps devotees attain prosperity, peace, and spiritual upliftment.
