According to the Hindu lunar calendar, Holashtak starts from the Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Phalguna month. The main Holi festivities last for two days. However, preparations for Holi start eight days before the day of Holi. This period is known as Holashtak, starting from Phalguna Ashtami.

Holashtak 2025: Date and Time

Holashtak is considered inauspicious for auspicious ceremonies like marriages, housewarming, and naming ceremonies. It is believed that planetary positions during this time bring instability, making it unsuitable for new ventures. However, people use this time for devotion and spiritual activities.

• Engage in spiritual activities like prayers, meditation, and mantra chanting.
• Donate food, clothes, and money to the needy.
• Worship Lord Vishnu and recite Vishnu Sahasranama.
• Maintain self-control and avoid anger or negative thoughts.

• Avoid new beginnings like marriage, housewarming, or job changes.
• Do not perform Graha Shanti pujas.
• Avoid haircuts and cutting nails.
• Do not touch suspicious objects left outside.
• Refrain from purchasing new clothes and ornaments.
