An employee was left feeling justifiably salty after receiving a baked potato as Christmas bonus from her company, and being told she would have to pay tax on it. X user Amanda B shared her “villain origin story” on the microblogging platform earlier this month, where it has since gone viral with hundreds of stunned responses.
In a series of increasingly bizarre tweets, Amanda described how her company had decided to set up a potato bar for employees in lieu of handing out Christmas bonuses, as is the norm. “My work is doing a potato bar as our Christmas bonus. I'm literally getting a hospital potato as a bonus. They also said it has a $15 value so it will be taxed on our next check,” she wrote. “Does anyone need an assistant so I can just quit right now?” the disgruntled employee added.

She also explained that employees could take only one potato from the potato bar. The toppings they could choose from included “butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, salt and pepper.”
“Not even bacon bits?” asked one user, to which she replied in the negative.
Amanda later shared a picture of her much-discussed potato, writing: “Your attention please! The moment you've all been waiting for, my $15 taxed potato.”
