Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi, the doyen of Indian hospitality and the Chairman Emeritus of the Oberoi Group, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 94. He left behind a legacy of impeccable hospitality and his commitment to the industry will always be remembered.
Now, an X user @avataram, shared an anecdote from their honeymoon stay at the Oberoi Wildflower Hall in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The post has gone viral and has is a proof of Oberoi's high-level hospitality.
Recounting the cherished memory, the user talked about a supremely heartwarming gesture made by the hotel's staff. The couple wanted to travel aboard the Shimla-Kalka toy train but the railway authorities mandated a minimum of 14 passengers only. So, the hotel staff stepped in and bought all 14 tickets just for the newly-weds.
“We stayed at the Oberoi Wildflower Hall for our honeymoon. We asked them to book tickets in the Simla-Kalka toy train. Railways said the train will not run unless there were 14 passengers. The hotel thought for a bit and bought all 14 tickets just for us!” the post read.

Since being shared on the internet, the post has gone viral online with an array of impressed reactions from social media users.

“Always wanted to visit Wildflower Hall. I love Oberoi hospitality as it’s in my opinion the best Indian hospitality chain, would stand some of the world’s best,” a third user remarked.
Meanwhile, PRS Oberoi was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest civilian honour in January 2008.
