A 25-year-old employee of a multinational corporation died by suicide in Maharashtra’s Matunga on February 23. Saurabh Kumar Ladda, a promising young talent who held degrees from prestigious institutions including IIT and IIM, died because of what authorities have described as "pressure at his workplace", The Indian Express reported.
The Matunga police have registered a case of accidental death and are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The man allegedly jumped from the ninth-floor balcony of his apartment in Wadala. Ladda had recently returned from Ahmedabad, where he had been working on a project for his employer, Express reported quoting sources.
"He had gone to Ahmedabad for work and after he returned around 10.30 pm, he allegedly went to the balcony and jumped," a police officer said in the matter.
Statements from Ladda's flatmates and parents have been recorded, and police are trying to ascertain the man’s state of mind in the days leading up to his death. Investigators are also reaching out to Ladda's colleagues and seniors at his workplace.
"We are also calling seniors and colleagues at his workplace who were part of the project to understand the pressure he was under and also to identify the situation he was in," remarked a senior police officer involved in the investigation.
Cops have also spoken to the man’s girlfriend who claimed he was dealing with work pressure. “We have also come across a few messages in which he is talking about work pressure,” the officer added.
