Ratan Tata died at 86 in Mumbai.

A man has immortalised Ratan Tata on his chest in the form of a tattoo, sharing a deeply personal story behind his decision in a viral video on Instagram.

The video, posted on Instagram by tattoo artist Mahesh Chavan, shows him carefully etching Ratan Tata onto a man's chest, with the caption, “India has lost a legend.” In the clip, Chavan asks the man why he chose to honour Tata in this way, revealing an emotional narrative that speaks volumes about the Tata Trusts' far-reaching impact.

The man recounted a harrowing time when his friend was diagnosed with cancer and faced crushing medical bills. Struggling to find affordable treatment, they discovered Tata Trusts, which stepped in to provide free medical care, easing their financial burden during an incredibly trying time.

"Ratan Tata saved my friend’s life," the man shared, describing the businessman as a ‘real-life God.’

The emotional tribute comes days after Tata died at a Mumbai hospital at 86. Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran released a statement after the billionaire philanthropist’s death: “It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation.” Chandrasekaran went on to describe Tata as his "friend, mentor, and guide."

Ratan Tata's legacy is marked by his business acumen and his commitment to uplifting the underprivileged through philanthropic ventures like the Tata Trusts. The foundation has consistently supported healthcare, education, and other charitable causes, impacting millions of lives across India.
