Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Germany after wrapping up his four-day trip to France on Sunday. Business and technology will be the focus of his engagements aimed at attracting participation in the 'Make in India' campaign.Modi will meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel and inaugurate the Hannover Fair, which is the world's largest fair of capital goods and technology. Modi is also likely to meet freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's grandnephew Surya in Berlin.Modi's proposed meeting with Surya comes in the wake of revelation that former prime minister Jawahar Lal Nehru spied on Bose's family for 20 years between 1948 and 1968. Nehru died on May 27, 1964 and snooping continued even after his death. Modi will also be inaugurating the Hannover Fair in Berlin and there's huge expectation from the event. Marco Siebert, one of the managers of the event, said, "We can expect a lot of things. You can expect the biggest industry platform in the world. We expect over 6,000 exhibitors and two hundred thousand visitors from 100 countries. It is an bilateral dialogues between industries, politicians, associations etc."Siebert added that 'Make in India' is the top theme of the event. "India is the exclusive partner country for this year and we are expecting great visibility of India. Doing business in India- that is the message and Make in India is our top theme," Siebert said.The Prime Minister will visit a railway station in Berlin amid his government's agenda of modernising Railways. He will also visit Siemens facility there.Germany is the 8th largest foreign investor in India. Its foreign direct investments in India during January-November 2014 was valued at around USD 995.7 million.More than 1,600 Indo-German collaborations and around 600 Indo-German joint ventures are currently in operation. In the third and last leg of his tour, Modi will travel to Canada, marking the first standalone visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over 42 years.(With inputs from PTI)
