Antimetal CEO Matthew Parkhurst has shared a post for an internship applicant who went above and beyond to get noticed by the New York startup. The applicant, named David, dropped off a pizza to Antimetal’s office along with his CV.
In a handwritten note accompanying the pizza and his résumé, David explained that he wanted to apply for the role of an engineering intern with Antimetal. The pizza, he admitted, was “basically a bribe” for the hiring team to visit his website and check out his work.
“Inspired by Antimetal’s brief stint as a slices as a service company, please enjoy this pizza. I’ve also brought a copy of my résumé as an application for the engineering intern position. I’m super excited by the opportunity and am driven to do what it takes,” he wrote.

“Another internship application - came to our office and dropped off a pizza with his resume,” Antimetal CEO Matthew Parkhurst wrote while sharing a photo of the note on X. “Even pushed a PR to fix 2 links in our docs prior.” 100% getting an interview,” he added.
Parkhurst said that the applicant would definitely get an interview with Antimetal. However, he stopped short of actually offering him the internship outright.
“There’s more to filter on than just effort,” he wrote in response to a comment suggesting David should get the position.
This is not the first time a job applicant has gone the extra mile to get noticed by the top brass. In 2021, Avkash Shah’s creative take on a CV landed him a direct internship opportunity at CRED.
