In an era where employees continue to struggle to maintain equilibrium between professional demands and personal lives, a story from Bengaluru has caught widespread attention on social media. It centres on a man named Dipesh, who gave up his steady corporate position to reclaim time with his family — a choice that has resonated with many online.
The account was shared on X by entrepreneur Varun Agarwal, who narrated how Dipesh decided to step away from his stressful office job and take up driving full-time. Dipesh, who had worked for nearly eight years, earned around Rs 40,000 a month but found his schedule leaving no time for his wife and children.
Unable to maintain a healthy work-life balance, Dipesh eventually resigned from his corporate role. Agarwal wrote that the workload had become so consuming that Dipesh’s evenings were often spent finishing office tasks instead of spending time with his family.
According to Agarwal’s post, Dipesh later began driving a cab — a move that not only improved his financial situation but also allowed him to spend time with his loved ones. Working 21 days each month, Dipesh now earns about Rs 56,000, having created a routine that includes designated days off.
Through consistent savings, Dipesh was also able to purchase a second vehicle and employ another driver, with plans to eventually expand into running his own small fleet. Agarwal praised him for taking charge of his life, writing, “Sometimes the best way to move forward in life is to take the driver’s seat.”
He added, “And now he makes about Rs 56,000 a month. And works only for 21 days a month. And finally has the work-life balance that he always sought for.”
The post prompted a wave of appreciation on social media, where users commended Dipesh’s courage and clarity in choosing a path that prioritised family and well-being over conventional career success.
One user commented, “Knowing priorities, taking the risk and the less travelled path. People may think this is a demotion, but it’s actually a promotion for him and his family.” Another added, “That’s a growth mindset. Nobody thinks for you. Take the driver’s seat of your own life.”
