A man from Assam's Nalbari district has become an internet sensation after a video of him bathing with approximately 40 litres of milk to celebrate his divorce went viral. The unusual celebration, captured by a neighbour, shows Manik Ali of Baraliarpar near Mukalmua, declaring his newfound freedom.
In the widely shared footage, Ali can be seen at his home's tubewell, pouring four buckets of milk on himself, exclaiming, "I am free from today. We got legally separated in court. My advocate informed me. To celebrate the occasion, I bathed with 40 litres of milk."

Ali revealed that his decision to file for divorce came after his wife allegedly absconded twice with her lover, the Times of India reported. Despite his repeated attempts at reconciliation, he ultimately sought legal separation. "I tried to keep her with me, but she didn't change. She kept eloping, and I couldn't tolerate it anymore," he stated. The divorce was recently granted by the court, prompting Ali to fulfill an unusual vow he had made to himself.
Locals gathered to witness the unique spectacle, described by neighbours as a culmination of long-standing domestic tensions. The couple had been married for seven years following a one-year courtship, and their five-year-old daughter will now reside with her mother.
"I promised myself I would bathe in milk once the divorce came through, and I did," Ali affirmed, seemingly resigned to the outcome regarding his daughter but evidently jubilant about his newfound single status.
