Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant wedding: Mumbai hotel rates soar from Rs 13,000 to Rs 91,350 per night

Anant Ambani is set to marry Radhika Merchant on July 12 at the Jio World Convention Centre in BKC.

Ahead of the pre-wedding celebrations of billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani's youngest son, Anant Ambani, and his fiancée, Radhika Merchant, the hotel rates in the upscale Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai, where the wedding will be held, have soared to astronomical heights. One of the hotels that usually charges Rs 13,000 is charging Rs 91,350 per night on July 14, CNBCTV18 reported.

The publication also stated that the main hotels in BKC are fully booked according to travel and hotel websites.

Room rates at the Trident BKC stand at 10,250 per night plus taxes on July 9, rising to Rs 16,750 plus taxes on July 15, and Rs 13,750 plus taxes on July 16 on travel booking websites. Rooms are unavailable from July 10 to 14, as indicated by the "sold out" status on the hotel's website.

Meanwhile, Sofitel BKC lists room rates of Rs 13,000 plus taxes on July 9, escalating to Rs 30,150 on July 12, Rs 40,590 on July 13, and Rs 91,350 on July 14, before dropping to Rs 16,560 on July 15 and Rs 13,680 on July 16, CNBCTV18 reported. The hotel's website stated that no rooms are available for July 10 and 11.

Anant Ambani is set to marry Radhika Merchant on July 12 at the Jio World Convention Centre in BKC. The exact accommodations for guests haven't been confirmed yet but the hotel prices in BKC and nearby areas have surged. The high-profile event has already seen two lavish pre-wedding celebrations.

One of the most notable pre-wedding celebrations was a toga party, followed by a masquerade ball. These events featured a light show with 5,500 drones and Rihanna's first full concert in nearly eight years, organised in a glass palace.

The first pre-wedding celebration occurred from March 1 to 3 at the Ambani estate in Jamnagar, India, with 1,200 guests, including global celebrities such as Bill Gates, Hillary Clinton, Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, Karlie Kloss, and Mark Zuckerberg. Rihanna's performance at this event reportedly cost between $6 million and $9 million.
