Rihanna appears on Instagram Live after Jamnagar performance: 'Only reason I'm leaving India...'

Rihanna took an early morning flight out of Jamnagar after the performance.

Pop icon Rihanna appeared on an Instagram Live on her best friend’s account on Friday night after her performance at the pre-wedding festivities of Mukesh Ambani's son Anant and his fiance Radhika Merchant. Rihanna set the stage on fire, performing some of her greatest hits in front of the biggest celebrities and industrialists in India, apart from global personalities.

On her way to the Jamnagar airport in Gujarat after the live performance, Rihanna’s friend Melissa Forde, who accompanied the singer to India, went live on Instagram.

“Is this live for real?” Rihanna asks, covering her face.

“I had the best time in India. I only have two days. The only reason I am leaving India is because my kids are (unclear audio). I have to come back,” she said.

Among the celebrities attending the extravagant three-day-long lavish pre-wedding bash are top Bollywood stars, cricketers, sports stars, heads of states and business tycoons from India and abroad, including Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.

While Anant Ambani is the younger son of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) CMD Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, Radhika Merchant is the younger daughter of Viren Merchant, CEO of Encore Healthcare. Anant Ambani serves as a director on the boards of RIL and Jio Platforms Ltd among some other group firms.

The grand pre-wedding celebrations, which began on Friday, are being held at a residential township situated close to RIL's petroleum refinery near Jamnagar city. Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant had got engaged in January 2023.
