The Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant pre-wedding festivities commenced in Jamnagar on Friday, as some of the biggest names from the world of business, entertainment, sports and technology descended in the city to take part in the three-day celebrations.
One of the invitees for the festivities is Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who revealed this would be the first time that he would be attending an Indian wedding celebration and also said that he went and "got fitted for clothes" that he would wear for the festivities.
"No (whether he had attended an Indian wedding in the past), I’m starting at the top. It’ll be hard to go to another Indian wedding after this one. I know the family and actually organised my visit so that I could attend. I went and got fitted for clothes, so it’ll be a fun thing to do," Gates told The Times of India in an interview.
Gates also revealed that he would be wearing Indian clothing for the occasion and would "join the spirit".
"Yeah absolutely. I didn’t think that was optional. I’ll join the spirit. I think there will be several events and I’ll be in great Indian clothing," he said.
Even before reaching Jamnagar for the pre-wedding festivities, Gates had made headlines for having a cup of tea served by social media personality Dolly Ahluwalia.
Ahead of his Jamnagar visit, Gates also had the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that he discussed artificial intelligence, innovation in agriculture and health and other issues.
