Karnataka clears investment proposals worth Rs 17,836 crore including Wistron’s project; likely to create 27K jobs

The Karnataka government on March 8 cleared approval for six new projects and eight additional investment proposals in the state, totaling Rs 17,835.9 crore.

The total investments are expected to generate an estimated 27,000 employment opportunities in the state.

Chaired by CM Siddaramaiah, the 63rd State High-Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC) approved six new projects valued at Rs 8,220 crore and gave nod to eight supplementary investment proposals amounting to Rs 9,615.85 crore.

Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer Wistron is likely to invest Rs 2,095 crore and is expected to create job opportunities for 21,723 people in the state.

Apart from Wistron, several other major projects secured the government's approval, with Air India Limited leading the pack with a proposed investment of Rs 1,750 crore. Others include STT Global Data Centres India Private Limited (Rs 1,352.3 crore), Indian Cane Power Limited (Rs 1,078 crore), and ICT Service Management Solutions (India) Private Limited (Rs 1,450 crore).

Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development MB Patil said districts like Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Ballari, and Belagavi in North Karnataka are expected to attract a substantial investment of Rs 10,433.72 crore.

Shri Balaji Sugars and Chemicals Pvt. Ltd: Rs 494.75 crore, 1,085

Air India Limited: Rs 1,750 crore, 1,200

Total investment: Rs 8,220.05 crore, 27,067 jobs
