Ola Group CEO shares pictures of factory progress, teases new e-scooter

The 500 acre land will be capable of handling everything about the manufacturing process from battery, welding, general assembly to even painting and testing.

The Ola electric scooter is already in the works as is the hypercharger network across the country. Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO of Ola Group has now also shared the images of the plant’s construction progress.


Taking to twitter, Aggarwal announced the completion of the first phase of the plant’s construction. Set up to be the largest two-wheeler factory in the world, the plant is being built in the Krishnagiri District of Tamil Nadu. The 500 acre land will be capable of handling everything about the manufacturing process from battery, welding, general assembly to even painting and testing.

“In just 4 months, this place has transformed from acres of empty rock land to the world’s largest 2W factory. The Ola Futurefactory phase 1 is nearing completion! The scooters are coming soon! Great work by team,” Aggarwal tweeted.

The Ola Future Factory, as it is being called, is being built with an investment of over Rs 2,400. It is expected to create 2,000 jobs in the beginning and go up to 10,000 employees once the factory is fully operational.

Aggarwal has also been sharing pictures of the upcoming Ola e-scooter. The teaser could speak of a launch very soon and prices, too, could be announced in the coming weeks.

The e-scooter is based on the Etergo AppScooter that was first unveiled in 2018 by Amsterdam based electric scooter OEM, Etergo BV. The Ola e-scooter is expected to be capable of 100-150 km range and will get features such as a removable battery pack, digital instrument console, telescopic front forks and even cloud connectivity.
