Delhi Capital's amazing run | Ahead of IPL 2019, erstwhile Delhi Daredevils re-branded itself as Delhi Capitals. The change of the name saw change in the fortunes too as DC finished third in the league phase and book a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2012. Considering that Daredevils had finished at the foot of the points table in 2018, third place finish was a massive improvement. In Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Keemo Paul, Sandeep Lamichhane and Sherfane Rutherford the squad was powered by a group of young and dynamic players. The squad was balanced by the presence of elder statesmen in Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra. At the helm was a young captain in Shreyas Iyer. DC's dream run was applauded by cricketing world and its skipper Shreyas Iyer called it a "dream season". Women's T20 Challenge | With the idea of promoting women's cricket, Women's T20 Challenge was organized in the midst of IPL 2019. The tournament saw the participation of premium women cricketers from across the globe. This year the event was expanded to a three-team challenge as Velocity joined Supernovas and Trailblazers in the fray for the championship. In a thrilling final, Supernova led by Harmanpreeet Kaur defeated Mithali Raj's Velocity.
