PM Modi to flag off 10 new Vande Bharat trains today, visit Gujarat and Rajasthan

The Prime Minister will greenlight 10 new Vande Bharat trains between Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central, Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam, Mysuru- Dr MGR Central (Chennai), Patna- Lucknow, New Jalpaiguri-Patna, Puri-Visakhapatnam, Lucknow-Dehradun, Kalaburagi–Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, Ranchi-Varanasi, and Khajuraho-Delhi (Nizamuddin) today.

Of the 51 Vande Bharat trains, 10 will end in Delhi following the launch of the new services.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil an additional 10 Vande Bharat trains today, expanding the broad gauge electrified network across significant national routes.

The Prime Minister is slated to greenlight 10 new Vande Bharat trains between Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central, Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam, Mysuru-Dr MGR Central (Chennai), Patna- Lucknow, New Jalpaiguri-Patna, Puri-Visakhapatnam, Lucknow-Dehradun, Kalaburagi–Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, Ranchi-Varanasi, Khajuraho-Delhi (Nizamuddin).

Along with this, the routes of four Vande Bharat trains that are already operational will also be extended. These include the Vande Bharat train from Ahmedabad to Jamnagar to Dwarka, the Vande Bharat from Ajmer to Delhi to Chandigarh, the Vande Bharat from Gorakhpur to Lucknow to Prayagraj, and the Vande Bharat from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod to Mangaluru.

In December 2023, PM Modi launched six new Vande Bharat trains. This covered the second train running from Katra to New Delhi. The Amritsar-Delhi, Coimbatore-Bengaluru, Mangalore-Madgaon, Jalna-Mumbai, and Ayodhya-Delhi were the other trains. The second train which runs between Delhi and Varanasi was also launched in December 2023.

The PM will also dedicate and lay the foundation stones for many railway projects valued at over Rs 85,000 crore today from the DFC's Operation Control Centre in Ahmedabad, significantly enhancing the infrastructure and connectivity of the railway network.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Gujarat and Rajasthan today, per a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office. He will dedicate two new sections of the Dedicated Freight Corridor to the nation: the 401-kilometer Sahnewal section of the Eastern DFC and the 244-kilometer New Makarpura to New Gholvad section of the Western DFC. He will also lay the foundation stone for railway workshops, loco sheds, pit lines/coaching depots and the new Phaltan-Baramati line. The Western DFC's Operation Control Centre (OCC) is located in Ahmedabad.
