Veteran Bollywood actress Zeenat Aman's post on live-in relationships has caused a stir in Bollywood, especially among the senior actors.

After veteran actress Mumtaz, now actress Saira Banu, in a recent interview, also criticised Zeenat Aman for advocating live-in relationships and said she can never agree to this.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, veteran actress Saira Banu said she is 'old-fashioned and follows the old trend' hinting at couples getting married first and then staying together.

She told the publication: "I am not reading much, and I don’t really follow what they (Mumtaz and Zeenat) are saying, but we are very old-fashioned people. Our trend is 40–50 saal pehle ka (years ago). Iss baat se main toh sehmat nahi ho sakti Hoon kabhi bhi (I can never agree with this statement). I would never advocate live-in relationships like that. It’s something unimaginable and unacceptable for me.”

Zeenat Aman, in her post, advocated that youngsters should opt for a live-in and then get married.

Reacting to her Instagram post when Mumtaz was asked about it, she told 'Zoom' that Zeenat should be the last person to dole out relationship advice, as “her own marriage was a living hell.”

Zeenat Aman, in her reply to Mumtaz, expressed her disagreement with Mumtaz's comments and defended her stance on the matter.

Zeenat Aman emphasised that she does not engage in tearing down her colleagues and respects their opinions, even if they differ from her own.

Zeenat wrote in her Instagram post, "If you’re in a relationship, I strongly recommend that you live together before getting married! I’m aware that Indian society is a little uptight about 'living in sin,' but then again, society is uptight about so many things! Log kya kahenge? (What will people say?"

Zeenat Aman was married to her co-actor Mazhar Khan, but it was not a happy marriage, and she had admitted in one of her old interviews that she realised she had "made a mistake" by marrying Mazhar in the first year of her relationship itself.
