Making plans to lose weight is far easier than putting them into action. If you want to get going before the year ends, Raj Ganpath, a fitness coach, shared simple nutrition rules to help you achieve your health goals. Taking to his Instagram account, he explained how you can “lose weight without losing your health.”
Here are 6 simple nutrition rules:
Maximise protein and vegetable consumption
It is one of the most basic necessities of losing weight the right way. “That means every meal should contain some form of protein and vegetables. And honestly, most of your meals should be filled with these foods,” Raj said.

Minimise sugary, fatty foods
Half the battle is won simply by reducing the amounts you consume. Raj emphasised that sugary, oily, fried, rich, or creamy foods don’t have to be completely removed but “actively minimised.”
Optimise starch consumption
A key to weight loss, Raj shared how starch consumption may vary for people. “Rice, roti, bread—anything that is starchy, use it as you need it. If you are someone who is trying to lose weight, eat less. If you are someone who moves more, eat a little more because starch is essentially energy without nutrients.”
No snacking
The fitness coach suggested eating only two to three basic meals a day and consuming nothing in between. He advised eating a fruit if hunger pangs are beyond control.
Eat slowly
Not only does it help improve digestion, but it also aids in weight management. “Take at least 15 minutes to eat your first course, and once you’re done, wait 10 minutes. If you’re still hungry, go for a second course and eat that slowly too. This will prevent you from overeating,” Raj said.

Undereat a little bit
“No matter what you eat, where you eat, or when you eat, undereat a little bit. That means don’t eat to fullness. Stop eating before you’re satisfied. Now this will mean that you’re a little hungry through the day, but that is necessary during weight loss, and it is absolutely okay,” Raj advised.
