Selection headaches for India

1) KL Rahul or Rishabh Pant

Although coach Gautam Gambhir recently clarified that KL Rahul is the number 1 choice for India and they cannot play two wicket-keepers. Rishabh Pant is certainly a player one cannot bench that easily. Rahul on one hand brings stability and experience whereas Pant brings an aggressive batting style, visibly capable of changing the match in a short time.

2) Harshit Rana or Arshdeep Singh

With Jasprit Bumrah sidelined due to a back injury, 22-year-old pacer Harshit Rana has been named as his replacement. Rana has showcased his potential in domestic cricket and made an impressive start to his ODI career, claiming six wickets in his first three matches against England. However, with seasoned bowlers like Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh in the squad, he is likely to wait for his opportunity. Given their recent strong performances, Shami and Arshdeep are expected to spearhead India’s bowling attack.
