Bollywood filmmakers Boney Kapoor, KC Bokadia, production houses Maddock Films, and music company T-Series are among the participants in the development of the Uttar Pradesh Government’s ambitious International Film City project in Yamuna Expressway Region, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), said on January 5.
The Authority noted that January 5 was the last date for submission of bids in the International Film City project. The technical bid was opened at 3 pm wherein four bids were received for the first phase of the project that is being established on 230 acres.
Film City location
YEIDA has been given the responsibility to execute the project and develop the Film City along the Yamuna Expressway in sector 21, which is in proximity to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar.
According to YEIDA officials, a consortium of Maddock Films and Cape of Good Films LLP, music company T-Series and film production firms of Bollywood filmmakers Boney Kapoor and KC Bokadia have applied for development of the Film City.
“The bids from Supersonic Technobuild Private Limited (consortium of Maddock Films, Cape of Good Films LLP and others), Bayview Projects LLP (Boney Kapoor and others), Super Cassettes Industries Private Limited (T series) and Lions Films Private Limited (KC Bokadia and others) were received in the third global tender. These four bids will now be technically tested at the authority level, after which action will be taken to open the financial bids as per rules,” the Authority said in a statement on January 5.
Officials said that by the end of January, out of these four firms, one will be selected as the concessionaire for the development of the Film City project.
Facilities at Film City
YEIDA had, on September 30, floated a global tender for the third time, inviting investors and production houses to develop, operate and maintain the first phase of the project on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. This time, the tender has been floated for the development of the first phase only, which will be spread over 230 acres involving an investment of around Rs 1500 crore. The area earmarked for the entire Film City project is 1000-acre. The remaining area will be taken up in other phases.
On the previous two occasions, the Authority had invited bids for the development of the film city project on an entire 1,000 acres but failed to attract any bidder because of the huge investments involved.
A YEIDA official said that out of 230 acres of land, 155 will be dedicated for industrial use and the remaining 75 for commercial use. The industrial aspect of the project will comprise the development of film studios, a film institute, post-production facilities, and other film-related developments, while the commercial part will include activities such as hospitality projects, and amusement parks, among others.
