April kicked off with a series of festivals starting with Navratri and continuing through Ashtami on April 5, followed by Ramnavmi on April 6. Festivals bring joy, togetherness, and an opportunity to refresh your home’s ambiance. While decorating is fun, refurbishing a small space can be challenging. Nevertheless, a minimalist approach with strategic decor elements can create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The key is to maximise the available area without making it feel cluttered, suggests Raghunandan Saraf, Founder and CEO, Saraf Furniture. “A well-placed wooden or metal mandir near a window or in a cosy corner can instantly lend the festive vibe. By introducing multifunctional furniture and subtle decor, even the tiniest space can be transformed into a festive sanctuary," he says.
He continues, “Festive decor doesn’t have to be extravagant to be impactful. Simple additions like cushions, throws, or diyas in vibrant colours can liven up the space without overwhelming it.”

Additionally, minimalist approach helps maintain the room’s openness while still infusing festive charm, says Saraf.
Multifunctional furniture plays a crucial role in optimising space. “An ottoman with storage can hold extra decor items or essentials while serving as seating, and a foldable table can be used for rituals and offering prasad. Keeping the central space open allows for easy movement, dancing, and gathering” he suggests. The right balance of decor and function ensures that even a small home feels festive yet uncluttered.
