Natural remedies for eczema: Apply pure aloe vera gel to affected areas several times a day for relief from itching and irritation

Dermatitis, often referred to as eczema, is a condition that causes skin inflammation, resulting in redness, itching, and sometimes blistering or peeling. While the exact cause of dermatitis is not fully understood, it is believed to result from a combination of genetic, environmental, and immune system factors. Common triggers for dermatitis flare-ups include exposure to irritants such as harsh chemicals, allergens like pollen or pet dander, and hot or humid weather conditions.

Additionally, in hotter months, the combination of sweat, heat, and sun exposure can exacerbate dermatitis symptoms, making it essential to take proactive measures to manage the condition effectively.

Check out these home remedies to combat dermatitis in summer:

Cool compressor: Applying cool compresses to affected areas can help reduce itching and inflammation. Simply soak a clean cloth in cold water, wring out excess moisture, and apply to the skin for 10-15 minutes several times a day.

Oatmeal bath: Oatmeal is known for its soothing properties and can provide relief from itching and irritation associated with dermatitis. Add colloidal oatmeal to a warm bath and soak for 15-20 minutes to soothe inflamed skin.

Coconut oil: Coconut oil is a natural moisturiser with anti-inflammatory properties, making it an effective remedy for dermatitis. Apply virgin coconut oil to affected areas after bathing to lock in moisture and reduce inflammation.

Aloe vera gel: It is renowned for its healing properties and can help soothe inflamed skin associated with dermatitis. Apply pure aloe vera gel to affected areas several times a day for relief from itching and irritation.

Apple cider vinegar: This has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce  symptoms of dermatitis. Dilute apple cider vinegar with water and apply to affected areas using a cotton ball, then rinse off after a few minutes.

Honey: Honey is a natural humectant and has antimicrobial properties that can help soothe and heal inflamed skin. Apply raw honey to affected areas and leave on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.

Tea tree oil: This oil has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that can help reduce inflammation and prevent infection in dermatitis-affected skin. Dilute tea tree oil with a carrier oil such as coconut oil and apply to affected areas, avoiding sensitive areas like the face.

Drink plenty of water: Keeping yourself hydrated helps to prevent dryness and irritation associated with dermatitis. Aim to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water per day to maintain a good skin health.
