Ginger-Turmeric Elixir

Ginger and turmeric are renowned for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, making them potent allies in strengthening the immune system. This drink is a powerhouse of nutrients, with ginger aiding digestion and turmeric providing curcumin, a compound known for its immune-boosting properties.

Ingredients: Hot water, 1 cup; Freshly grated ginger, 1 teaspoon; Freshly grated turmeric (or ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder), 1 teaspoon; Honey, 1 tablespoon; Juice of half a lemon

Method:

  • Boil the water and add the ginger and turmeric. Let it steep for 10 minutes.
  • Strain the mixture into a cup.
  • Stir in the honey and lemon juice.
  • Enjoy warm, preferably in the morning for a revitalising start to your day.

Citrus Green Tea

Green tea is celebrated for its high antioxidant content, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which has been shown to enhance immune function. Combining green tea with citrus fruits adds a dose of vitamin C, further fortifying your immune system. This drink is not only refreshing but also a potent blend of antioxidants and vitamin C, crucial for immune health.

Ingredients: Hot water, 1 cup; Green tea bag, 1;  Juice of half an orange; Juice of half a lemon; Honey (optional), 1 teaspoon

Method:

  • Steep the green tea bag in hot water for 3-5 minutes.
  • Remove the tea bag and add the orange and lemon juice.
  • Stir in honey for a touch of sweetness if desired.
  • Drink warm or chilled, depending on your preference.

Beetroot and Carrot Juice

Beetroot and carrot are rich in beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant that the body converts into vitamin A, essential for a strong immune system. Regular consumption of this juice can help boost your immune system by providing essential vitamins and minerals.

Ingredients: Medium-sized beetroot, 1; Medium-sized carrots, 2; Apple (for sweetness), 1; Ginger, 1-inch piece;  Juice of half a lemon

Method:

  • Wash and peel the beetroot, carrots, and ginger.
  • Cut them into small pieces and blend them with the apple in a juicer.
  • Add the lemon juice and stir well.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the fresh taste and maximum nutrients.

Elderberry Tonic

Elderberries are packed with antioxidants and vitamins that can boost the immune system. They have been used for centuries in traditional medicine to ward off colds and flu.

Ingredients: Water, 1 cup; Dried elderberries (or 2 tablespoons of elderberry syrup), 1 tablespoon; Honey, 1 teaspoon; Juice of half a lemon

Method:

  • Boil the water and add the dried elderberries. Let them simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Strain the mixture and add honey and lemon juice.
