Woman gets emotional after watching Haq

Bollywood’s courtroom drama Haq, starring Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi, has finally made its way to theatres on November 7, and it’s already touching hearts.

The film is genuinely unforgettable because of the audience members' personal accounts, not just the reviews and box office results.

At one screening, Yami and Emraan visited to witness fans’ reactions, and a Muslim woman’s emotional response went viral online.

She held Yami’s hand and said, “Bahot khushi hui. Dekh ke mujhe laga ke yeh haq humko milna chahiye (I felt very happy watching it. I felt everyone should get this right).” Overcome with emotion, she kissed Yami’s hand and added, “Yeh mere liye bhi hai ke main bhi aise lad sakti hoon. Mujhe bahot seekh mili (This is also for me, that I, too, can fight like this. I learnt a lot).”

Another clip showed her hugging Yami tightly, clearly moved by Shazia’s story on screen.

Haq draws inspiration from the real-life legal battle of Shah Bano Begum, whose landmark 1985 case helped grant divorced Muslim women the right to maintenance.

The film, which was written by Reshu Nath and directed by Suparn Varma, also stars Vartika Singh, Danish Husain, Sheeba Chaddha, and Aseem Hattangady.

The narrative centres on Shazia (Yami Gautam Dhar), a modest woman whose life is completely upended when her husband, Abbas Khan (Emraan Hashmi), takes a second wife and then uses triple talaq to divorce her. The film's emotional core is Shazia's struggle for justice, which demonstrates her bravery, tenacity, and resolve to take what is rightfully hers.

Strong word-of-mouth helped the film launch, earning ₹1.65 crore on its first day. Over the weekend, it is anticipated to grow steadily.

Shah Bano's daughter had requested a stay of the release, but the Madhya Pradesh High Court denied the petition, clearing the way for viewers to finally see this moving tale.
