K-pop boyband BTS member Jin is all set to turn 33 years old this year and has decided to return to society. Jin celebrated his birthday by donating 100 million won (roughly $68,100) to the Busan Namgwang Social Welfare Society.

The organisation, which has an 80-year history rooted in child welfare, confirmed the contribution on December 3, highlighting its impact on local youth development programmes.

In keeping with its long-standing goal since its founding as a child welfare facility, the Busan Namgwang Social Welfare Society declared that the funds would be given priority for child and youth welfare initiatives.

The donation comes at a significant time for the society as it continues to support vulnerable groups in the region. Jin's donation will back a support program for young people leaving institutional care, as well as a number of scholarship programs for impoverished children.

The donation fund will go toward educational and self-sufficiency initiatives that will empower kids and teenagers who are struggling with social and economic issues.

A significant amount of the donation will go toward a "Self-Reliant Youth Support Program" that will provide resources for individuals ageing out of daycare centres as they move into independent living.  This focus addresses a systemic need for greater support mechanisms for those who are no longer eligible for state care.

BTS is preparing for a full-group comeback expected in the first half of next year, continuing their global music activities. Their previous productions, such as the movie BREAK THE SILENCE: THE MOVIE, have attracted recognition on a global scale.
