Pillowtalk singer Zayn Malik made a difficult decision to cancel his concert in Newcastle, UK, at the last minute on Tuesday, December 3.
The news has left Zayn Malik's fanbase, the Zquad, in disbelief. While some fans voiced their disappointment and frustration, others came to his defense, pointing to his ongoing mental health battles and recent personal hardships.
The cancellation was announced shortly before Zayn Malik, 31, was set to perform at O2 City Hall in Newcastle, UK. A loudspeaker announcement informed attendees that, despite the artist's strong desire to perform, the show was "no longer possible." Fans were directed to reach out to their point of purchase for refund information.

Malik later took to Instagram Stories to address the situation, explaining the sudden cancellation. "I’m so sorry to do this but my voice just isn’t there at all tonight, and without it, there’s no show. I’m truly sorry to let you down, especially at short notice," he wrote. He added, "I held onto hope until the very last moment. I’m hopeful with some rest tonight I’ll be back on stage tomorrow. My deepest apologies Newcastle, love you all xx."

On the opening night, Zayn honored his late One Direction bandmate Liam Payne, who passed away at the age of 31 in October. The concert included a memorial graphic for Payne, followed by a symbolic moment during the encore, where the lights flickered on and off.
Malik postponed the original opening dates of his tour in Edinburgh to attend Payne's funeral, which was also attended by his fellow One Direction members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan. Payne tragically passed away on October 16 due to multiple traumas and internal and external hemorrhaging after falling from a third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
