Varun Dhawan and David Dhawan's film expands with Pooja Hegde joining the cast, dets inside

This will be Pooja's first time working as the lead actress opposite Varun.

Pooja Hegde is set to star alongside Varun Dhawan in David Dhawan's upcoming directorial venture, as confirmed by sources close to the film.

This announcement dismissed previous claims that actress Sreeleela, recognized for her roles in South Indian films such as Guntur Kaaram and Bhagavanth Kesari, would be making her Hindi film debut in this project. This will be Pooja's first time working as the lead actress opposite Varun.

The untitled film will also feature Mrunal Thakur and signifies the reunion of the father-son duo, Varun and David Dhawan, after a decade apart.

When contacted by Times of India, Pooja Hegde mentioned that she has several announcements on the horizon and prefers to let the production house make the official reveals. She expressed her intention to explore different roles moving forward and noted that she took time this year to reflect on her filmography to determine her next steps.

Pooja Hegde's most recent film was Cirkus, a Hindi movie directed by Rohit Shetty that was released in 2022. In the film, she starred alongside Ranveer Singh as the female lead.

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan is gearing up for the release of Citadel: Honey Bunny alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu. It is set to premiere on Prime Video on November 7, 2024. The Citadel universe, launched with the popular series starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, is expanding further with localized versions, including Citadel: Honey Bunny.
