Junghwan, a beloved member of the K-pop group TREASURE, is currently mourning the loss of his father, who passed away on August 17, 2024. The heartbreaking news was shared by YG Entertainment, the agency representing TREASURE, in an official statement released on August 21, 2024. The statement confirmed the tragic event and revealed that Junghwan will be taking some time off to grieve with his family.

In their announcement, YG Entertainment expressed deep sorrow over the loss and informed fans that the funeral had been held privately. The intimate ceremony was attended by family members, close relatives, and Junghwan's fellow TREASURE members, in accordance with the wishes of Junghwan and his family. The agency also requested that fans extend their warm condolences and allow the young artist the privacy and time needed to mourn.

We regret to inform you that TREASURE SO JUNG HWAN’s father passed away on August 17th.
We bring you this sad news with a heavy heart.
The funeral was held quietly among family, close relatives, and TREASURE members, following the wishes of JUNG HWAN and his family.
We ask for your warm condolences and consideration so that JUNG HWAN can have some time to mourn with his family."

Junghwan, who debuted as part of TREASURE in 2020, has been a key member of the group, contributing to their rise as one of the most promising acts in the K-pop industry. TREASURE, formed by YG Entertainment in 2019, consists of ten members: Choi Hyun Suk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, Yoon Jae Hyuk, Asahi, Doyoung, Haruto, Park Jeong Woo, and So Jung Hwan. The group quickly gained popularity with their debut single album, The First Step: Chapter One, and continued to build their discography with albums like The First Step: Treasure Effect and their second full album, Reboot.

In 2023, TREASURE embarked on their second world tour, named after their album Reboot. After a brief hiatus, the group made a strong comeback in 2024 with their single KING KONG.
