Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer superhit Bollywood blockbuster Gadar 2, the sequel to the evergreen Gadar, will celebrate its first anniversary after its release on August 15. Gadar 2 is set to make a triumphant return to theatres on August 4 but with a unique twist. The blockbuster film will be re-released with Indian Sign Language for the benefit of the deaf community.
In a commendable move, the film's producers, Zee Studios, responded to a request from a Mumbai-based organization for the deaf to make the film accessible to all. This special screening will be available at select PVR cinemas across the country, ensuring a truly inclusive cinematic experience.
Sunny Deol, who plays Tara Singh in the iconic film expressed his delight at the amazing initiative and said, “Gadar 2 is a film that has, and always will have, a special place in my heart. So, it’s overwhelming to see the continued love and support from audiences 1 year after its release. This re-release with Indian Sign Language interpretation will allow the film to touch the hearts of even more audiences this time.”
Ameesha Patel, the leading lady said, “Being a part of the Gadar films has been an incredible journey for me. It feels great to be able to bring the story of Sakina back on the big screen for a special audience that does not get enough opportunities to fully enjoy cinema as the rest of us, and I hope this initiative will inspire other film-makers to make cinema more inclusive and accessible.”
The film was a phenomenal success, earning massive numbers and securing its place as one of 2023's biggest hits. It achieved a remarkable feat by crossing the Rs 500 crore mark at the domestic box office.
Gadar 2 follows the heroic exploits of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) as he embarks on a perilous mission to rescue his son, Charanjeet (Utkarsh Sharma), from the clutches of enemy territory. The film is set against the dramatic backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war.
