As Bollywood’s much-loved couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt prepare to step into a new chapter of their lives, they’re doing so with blessings quite literally carved in stone for their new home.
Renowned Mysuru sculptor Arun Yogiraj, whose artistic legacy now includes icons like the Balak Ram idol in Ayodhya, Adi Shankaracharya in Kedarnath, and Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate, has created a Lord Ganesha idol especially for their new Mumbai home.
As per Star of Mysore, Alia Bhatt is a devoted follower of Lord Ganesha has decided to place the Ganesha idol in her new home, the idol holds more than just spiritual significance.
Arun shared with Star of Mysore, “Both Alia and Ranbir, who contacted me over phone, had requested me to carve a Ganesha idol for their new home in Mumbai. I had visited their construction site last year to understand where the idol would be installed and to ensure it would complement the space. The couple was warm, courteous and invited me for lunch at their current residence.”
But this isn’t just any idol. Crafted from a single block of stone (ekashila), the four-foot-tall Ganesha beautifully blends Hoysala and Mysuru sculptural styles. It rests on a two-and-a-half-foot pedestal carved with tiny musicians — a nod to both divine celebration and human craftsmanship.

The journey of this statue began nearly eight months ago in Arun Yogiraj’s studio in Thandya, a quiet village in Nanjangud taluk.
There, under his careful guidance, a team of artisans worked day and night, shaping not just a sculpture but a soul in stone. The idol was transported to Mumbai just last evening and it is ready to take its place as the spiritual heart of the Kapoor-Bhatt residence.
Their new home carries deep emotional roots, once owned by Ranbir’s grandparents, Raj Kapoor and Krishna Raj Kapoor, the bungalow was later passed on to his parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor.
Now, with the next generation ready to move in, the house is being filled with not just memories, but meaning.
