Stree 2 box office collection day 3: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's film earns around Rs 137.7 crore

Amar Kaushik’s horror-comedy Stree 2 has proven to be a massive success at the Indian box office, continuing the momentum of its predecessor Stree (2018). Released on Independence Day, the film has captivated audiences across the country, achieving significant box office collections. By the end of its third day in theaters, Stree 2 has raked in an impressive Rs 137.7 crore in India.

 
The film opened to substantial anticipation, especially given the success of the first Stree movie, which was both a critical and commercial hit. On its first day, Stree 2 made a collection of Rs 51.8 crore, marking a strong start. However, like many blockbuster films, it experienced a dip in collections on its second day. Friday’s earnings stood at Rs 31.4 crore, a decrease of 39.38% from its opening day. This decline, though steep, did not hamper the film’s overall strong performance.

 
Saturday saw a rebound in the film’s collections as the weekend crowd flocked to theaters. Stree 2 garnered an estimated Rs 46 crore on its third day, bringing the total box office earnings to Rs 137.7 crore. The occupancy rate on Saturday was reported to be 55.72%, with evening shows drawing the largest crowds.

 
The positive word of mouth and good reviews have played a significant role in the film’s box office success. Critics have praised Stree 2 for its engaging narrative, strong performances, and seamless blend of horror and comedy—qualities that made the first film a hit. Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, reprising their roles from the original Stree have been lauded for their performances. Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana also return to their respective roles, adding to the film’s charm and appeal.

 
Despite its strong performance, Stree 2 faced stiff competition at the box office from several other high-profile releases. John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh’s action thriller Vedaa and Akshay Kumar’s sports drama Khel Khel Mein were among the films competing for audience attention. However, Stree 2 managed to hold its ground, emerging as the top choice for moviegoers over the weekend.

 
Stree 2 continues the story of the residents of Chanderi, who are once again tormented by a supernatural entity. This time, the terror comes in the form of Sarkata, a beheaded spirit who abducts women. The people of Chanderi are left with no choice but to seek the help of Stree, the mysterious woman who protected them in the past. The film builds on the lore established in the first movie while introducing new characters and elements to keep the audience engaged.

 
In addition to its primary cast, Stree 2 boasts several star-studded cameos, which have been kept under wraps to surprise the audience. One of the highlights is Varun Dhawan reprising his role as Bhediya, a character from another film in the Maddock Supernatural Universe. His appearance in a song with Shraddha Kapoor has been particularly well-received.
