Dude, the Tamil romantic comedy starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju, continues to win hearts and fill theatres.
Released on 17 October, the film has made an impressive splash at the box office, raking in over Rs 30 crore within its first three days, according to trade reports. On day 3, the film collected over rs 10 Crores.
Directed by newcomer Keerthiswaran, Dude has quickly connected with audiences thanks to its refreshing storyline and charming performances. On its opening day, Friday, the film earned Rs 9.75 crore—Rs 6.5 crore from its Tamil release and Rs 3.25 crore from Telugu, as reported by a trading website.
Saturday saw the numbers climb even higher, with the film bringing in Rs 10.3 crore (Rs 7.4 crore from Tamil and Rs 2.9 crore from Telugu). That’s a 5.64% jump from day one—clear proof that word-of-mouth is doing wonders for the film.
With early estimates for Sunday indicating a collection of Rs 10.5 crore, the weekend ended on a high note.
Dude's Indian net total reached Rs 30.55 crore after Tamil audiences contributed Rs 8 crore and Telugu-speaking regions contributed Rs 2.5 crore.
This marks a new milestone for Pradeep Ranganathan, whose earlier 2025 release Dragon had also performed well. That film collected Rs 30.05 crore during its opening weekend, but Dude has now gone one better—becoming the biggest opener of his career so far.
The film also features veteran actors R Sarathkumar, Rohini, and Hridhu Haroon in important roles, adding emotional depth to the story.
A part of review by Moneycontrol read, "Written and directed by Keerthiswaran, Dude, starts out really well. The first half is like a joyful romantic comedy with humorous conversations, situations that everyone can relate to, and some sad portions. There are a lot of funny jokes and some really outstanding scenes that retain the audience's attention. The segment before the interval does a great job of getting people ready for what's coming next. The plot is much better with Sarath Kumar's character. One of the best things about the first half of the movie is his acting. It gives the movie more life and helps it keep going with its funny timing."
