The Telugu romantic comedy Dude recorded an overall Tamil occupancy of 48.85% on its opening day, Friday, October 17, 2025.At 33.94% in the morning, 45.75% in the afternoon, 46.17% in the evening, and a remarkable 69.53% in the evening, the movie's Day 1 (2D) performance grew steadily throughout the day.

"Dude" did well in the Telugu version as well, with a theatre occupancy rate of 49.61 percent overall.

This strong opening marks the biggest debut of Pradeep Ranganathan’s career, surpassing the first-day earnings of his earlier successes Dragon and Love Today. While Dragon earned Rs 7.6 crore on its opening day, Love Today had collected Rs 2.85 crore.

Soon after Dude hit the theatres, several fans and netizens shared their reviews about the film on social media platforms like X. While many appreciated Pradeep's performance and Sai Abhyankkar's music, others criticised it for weak storyline and boring second half.

Meanwhile, Moneycontrol's review of Dude read, "Written and directed by Keerthiswaran, Dude, starts out really well. The first half is like a joyful romantic comedy with humorous conversations, situations that everyone can relate to, and some sad portions. There are a lot of funny jokes and some really outstanding scenes that retain the audience's attention."

Directed by debutant Keerthiswaran, Dude revolves around childhood friends Agan and Kuralarasi, who run an event management company together. They are part of a close-knit team known as the “Dude Group,” which specializes in organizing surprises for others. As the story unfolds, Kural admits her love for Agan, who turns her down at first but eventually comes to understand and reciprocate her feelings.
