If 2025 proved anything, it’s that social media is no longer just a trend-reporting platform but turning into a living runway where fashion evolves in real time. This year, the looks that went viral weren’t accidental or gimmicky. They were thoughtful, sharply styled, and visually powerful, blending craft, structure, and personality in ways that translated seamlessly on screen.
One of the most defining visual signatures of 2025 was sculpted fashion. Clean lines, engineered shapes, and strong silhouettes dominated feeds, particularly in Indian fashion. Corsets emerged as the breakout star of the year, shedding their once-niche status to become a central styling element across categories. Corsets paired with lehengas, draped skirts, and even saris struck a balance between strength and elegance, making them endlessly repost-worthy.
Isha Jajodia, Founder & Creative Director at Roseroom, says, “2025 was the year Indian fashion fully embraced sculpted structure, clever layering and new-age maximalism. One silhouette that truly dominated timelines was the corset. What began as a couture element evolved into a mainstream fashion movement, appearing in bridalwear, eveningwear and even occasion-ready sari styling. The popularity stemmed from its ability to shape, refine and empower, making it one of the most shared and reinterpreted pieces of the year.”
Layering took on a more experimental and confident form in 2025. Traditional styling elements gave way to unexpected combinations that felt modern yet rooted. Jajodia adds, “The bomber jacket, in particular, became a breakthrough favourite. When paired with lehengas, draped skirts or even lace saris, it offered a contemporary way of dressing that felt fashion-forward without losing cultural context.”
This unexpected pairing resonated widely because it reflected how younger audiences dress in real life with fluid and expressive inspos. At the other end of the spectrum, high-impact metal couture made waves. “Metal corsets, plated finishes and sculpted bodices signalled a shift toward a bold yet elevated form of maximalism,” Jajodia explains. These looks went viral not just for their drama, but for the craftsmanship and technical precision that stood out in a scroll-heavy world.
Indian fashion emerged as one of the most saved and shared categories of the year. Aisha Rao, Founder and Creative Director of her eponymous Hyderabad-based luxury fashion label, observes a deeper emotional shift behind this trend. She says, “I love seeing Indian audiences gravitate towards pieces that feel modern but still carry the warmth and memory of our heritage. Social media, in that sense, has become a space where personal style and cultural identity blend together quite organically.”
Celebrity moments played a key role in shaping this narrative. Rao notes, “I would like to appreciate Sonam Kapoor's look in East Zimik, styled by Rhea Kapoor. The rich burgundy palette felt regal without trying too hard, and the woven texture added such quiet depth.”
What truly set 2025 apart was the renewed appreciation for craftsmanship. Pieces that celebrated construction and detail found instant traction online. Rao adds, “Another look that was remarkable was Ananya Panday’s sculpted pearl dress by Abu Sandeep. I found the construction fascinating; the pearls didn’t just embellish the garment they defined its contour and gave it form. I would also like to mention the recent look of Priyanka Chopra in custom Anamika Khanna, styled by Ami Patel. I just loved how the look turns the Telugu half-saree into something so ethereal. It’s really lovely to see South Indian style being celebrated this way, it was beautifully crafted.”
