James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash continues to dominate the box office after its strong opening on December 19 in India. The film sees the return of Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña in their iconic roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri te Tskaha Mo'at'ite.
According to a trade website, Avatar: Fire and Ash collected Rs 22.50 crore net in India on its second day of release. The film’s total collection now stands at Rs 41.50 crore net in India. The film is expected to surpass the Rs 50 crore mark in just three days.
The film registered 43.21% English and 37.70% Hindi language occupancy in the theatres on Saturday.
Despite the decent collection, Avatar: Fire and Ash still falls well short of Avatar: The Way of Water, as it collected Rs 50 crore on its opening day in India. The film earned a total of around Rs 500 net in India during its theatrical run in 2022 in India.
When the first Avatar movie came out in 2009, it set a record with a $232 million worldwide opening weekend. In 2022, the second movie broke this record with an incredible $441 million opening at the worldwide box office.
