Sonakshi Sinha embraces tradition on her first Karwa Chauth

Sonakshi Sinha is celebrating her first Karwa Chauth as a married woman, marking the occasion with a heartfelt gesture for her husband, Zaheer Iqbal. On October 20, Sonakshi shared beautiful pictures on Instagram. Dressed in a stunning red saree, with sindoor in her hair parting and a mangalsutra around her neck, Sonakshi looked every bit the traditional Indian bride as she prayed for her husband's long life.

Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot on June 23, 2024, in a court marriage under the Special Marriage Act. Despite their marriage being controversial due to their different religions, the couple’s love triumphed over the criticism.

Sonakshi's father, Shatrughan Sinha, made it clear that there was no need for her to change her religion, and the couple has since continued to share moments of their love openly. For her first Karwa Chauth, Sonakshi embraced the rituals, surprising everyone by fully immersing herself in the festival’s customs.

In her Instagram post, Sonakshi shared two pictures that captured her Karwa Chauth look. Her traditional red saree, complemented by a red bindi and sindoor, evoked classic elegance, making her look like a quintessential Indian bride.

In the caption, she expressed her devotion by tagging Zaheer and writing, "Praying for your lambi umar, today and everyday #HappyKarwachauth Mr. Husband @iamzahero." The post quickly garnered attention, with fans showering her with praise and heartfelt wishes.

Sonakshi’s fans were delighted to see her in this traditional avatar, with many commenting on how stunning she looked. One fan reminisced about her iconic look from the movie Lootera, while another complimented her saying, "This sindoor is making you even more beautiful." The post was filled with red heart and fire emojis, as followers admired her grace and wished the couple happiness.

Karwa Chauth, a festival observed by married women across India, involves fasting from sunrise to moonrise for their husbands' long and healthy lives. While many Bollywood celebrities, including Parineeti Chopra, Shilpa Shetty, and Sonam Kapoor, celebrated in their unique ways, Sonakshi’s first observance stood out as a heartfelt embrace of tradition, despite the cultural differences in her marriage.

The wedding festivities concluded with a reception, where Sonakshi also opted for a red saree, adorned with sindoor.
