Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar starrer most-awaited Jolly LLB 3 hit the theatres this Friday with positive reviews from the critics. However, the film performed well on its premiere day at the box office.
According to a trade website, Jolly LLB 3 earned Rs 12.50 crore net in India. The film registered an overall 22.40% Hindi occupancy on Friday with 10.28% morning shows, 17.46% and 39.45% in the night shows.
Interestingly, the evening shows registered 0% occupancy in the theatres. With only 10% occupancy in the morning shows, the movie has had a rather slow start to its first day at the box office.
Despite the slow start, Jolly LLB 3 managed to surpass Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection, which opened in the theatres with Rs 10.20 crore net in India. Despite this, the film failed to overtake Jolly LLB 2, which made Rs 13 crore on its first day of release in 2017.
Directed by Subhash Kapoor, the third instalment of the legal comedy franchise brings the two Jollies from parts 1 and 2 together for the first time. The film also stars Saurabh Shukla, Amrita Rao, Huma Qureshi, Seema Biswas and Gajraj Rao in the key roles.
Jolly LLB 3 revolves around smart-alec Jolly Mishra and jugadu Jolly Tyagi as they clash in Judge Tripathi's court with witty banter, wild twists, and heartfelt chaos in this ultimate courtroom comedy.
An excerpt of Jolly LLB 3 review from Moneycontrol reads, “While the film entertains, there are missed chances to add more punch. The restaurant sequence with Saurabh Shukla, Akshay, Arshad, Huma, and Amrita doesn’t land any laughs. Similarly, the meeting between the two Jollys over alcohol bottles could have been developed. Yet, the final 30 minutes in the courtroom redeem these lapses. The exchanges are sharp, the tension is real, and the arguments force the audience to reflect on issues that go beyond the screen. ‘Jolly LLB 3’ may not explore its subject with the depth it deserves, but it still leaves a mark with its blend of humour, drama, and moral conflict. Flaws aside, it remains a courtroom drama worth watching—carried by strong performances, a relevant message, and moments that stay with you.”
