The much-awaited courtroom drama Jolly LLB 3 is just two days away from release, but its early box office signals are muted. Starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi as the two “Jollys” in Subhash Kapoor’s third installment of the franchise, the film carries strong brand recall. Yet, advance bookings have struggled to gain momentum so far.
Advance booking for the film opened on September 15, four days before release. In the two days since, ticket sales have totaled around 32,000, translating to approximately Rs 99 lakh in pre-sales for opening day, as per Sacnilk data.
With less than 48 hours to go, the collections are still short of the Rs 1 crore mark. For a franchise sequel backed by Akshay Kumar’s star power, this number is on the lower side. The team will be banking on a late surge in bookings before release day.
While the advance trend appears weak, courtroom comedies are not traditionally front-loaded. They tend to build gradually on audience reception. The previous installment, Jolly LLB 2 (2017), also had modest pre-release figures, yet opened at Rs 13 crore net and went on to net Rs 117 crore in India, grossing nearly Rs 200 crore worldwide. The makers of Jolly LLB 3 will hope history repeats itself, with strong word of mouth compensating for the sluggish advance sales.

This time, the narrative pits Jagdwishwar “Jolly” Mishra (Akshay Kumar) against Jagdish “Jolly” Tyagi (Arshad Warsi). Mishra defends a powerful political leader accused of land grabbing, while Tyagi represents the villagers fighting the case. The clash between the two Jollys is expected to provide both drama and humor in equal measure.
The film also reunites familiar faces from the franchise, including Saurabh Shukla and Huma Qureshi. Amrita Rao, Gajraj Rao, and Seema Biswas join the ensemble, adding freshness to the dynamic.
Despite a slow start, the franchise’s credibility, Akshay Kumar’s pull in the Hindi belt, and the appeal of a comedy-drama courtroom clash could help the film pick up steam after release. All eyes are now on September 19, when Jolly LLB 3 finally opens in theatres.
