Nine years after its initial release in 2016, Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, has won hearts following its re-release.
The film has been met with renewed love and appreciation, sparking discussions about a potential sequel.
Amidst the buzz, directors Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao have shared insights into their connection with Salman Khan and the possibility of collaborating with him once more, nearly two decades after their work together on the 2005 film Lucky: No Time for Love.
In an interview with ETimes, Vinay and Radhika shared how Salman Khan instantly agreed to be part of their film without any hesitation.
They recalled carrying scripts and song references with them and visiting Galaxy Apartments, where they met someone. According to them, Salman noticed them and inquired about their purpose.
"'What are you guys doing here?' We told him, ‘We’ve come here for a narration.’ He invited us inside and later said, ‘Congratulations, I’m doing your film,’" they said recalling their first time meeting with Salman Khan.
Vinay recalled how, as two aspiring filmmakers trying to make a film, they suddenly found themselves in front of a superstar. He shared that Salman Khan, without having seen their previous work, assured them that he would do their film and then asked to hear the script. Reflecting on the moment, Vinay described it as an example of how destiny brings ordinary people and stars together.
Radhika further expressed deep appreciation for Salman’s unwavering belief in them during one of the most challenging phases of their careers.
She described his kindness and compassion as extraordinary, highlighting his rare ability to recognize talent when others doubted them.
According to her, while no one believed they could direct a film, Salman had the foresight to see beyond uncertainty and assess their potential. She emphasized that just when they needed support the most, he stepped in and made a difference.
Vinay further revealed that Salman Khan played a crucial role in promoting their film, which lacked proper backing. He shared that their studio had let them down, leaving the film without any promotion, visibility, or support. With just four days remaining before the release, they approached Salman for help. "He looked at us and said, ‘Your film isn’t being promoted.’ We replied, ‘Salman, this is a betrayal.’ He saw the trailer and simply asked, ‘Now, what do you want me to do?’"

The directors simply asked him to share one tweet and eventually he did and the tweet read, ‘This song was recorded for Tere Naam.’
When asked about Salman Khan’s involvement in a possible Sanam Teri Kasam sequel, Vinay stated that Salman is a dream actor for every director, including themselves. He revealed that ever since they completed Lucky, they had kept a script ready on their top shelf, hoping for the opportunity to work with him again.
