Rajinikanth to soon begin Jailer 2 shoot in Chennai: Reports

Rajinikanth, who is currently riding in the success of his 2024 blockbuster, Vettaiyan, is gearing up to resume shooting for the sequel of his blockbuster film Jailer.

According to IANS reports, the filming of Jailer 2 is expected to begin in Chennai next week, followed by shoots in Goa. The filming will later move to Tamil Nadu, and other locations.

Additionally, there are rumors that big stars like Dr Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal may join Rajinikanth in Jailer 2.

The makers have yet to officially confirm the reports, but fans are excited about the announcement of the sequel.

Jailer made its debut in 2023 and its massive box office success brought the demand for its sequel. The first film was a massive success, grossing over ₹650 crores worldwide. Jailer was made on an overall budget of ₹200 crore, which also included Rajinikanth's fees.

Meanwhile, the teaser for Jailer 2 has also generated a significant amount of buzz.
The Jailer 2 teaser was released in January and opens with a radio warning about a cyclone, then cuts to director Nelson and music director Anirudh Ravichander joking around in Goa.

The directors were seen brainstorming ideas for Nelson's next film. Suddenly, people start getting attacked, and the two scramble for cover. Rajinikanth then appears, taking down more villains. After an intense action sequence, Anirudh turns to Nelson and says, "This looks fearsome, Nelson! Let’s make this into a film!"

Jailer also features Tamanna Bhatia and Mirna Menon in key roles. The film revolves around a retired jailer who embarks on a quest for revenge after his son is kidnapped.

Meanwhile, Jailer 2 is expected to revolve around a conflict between retired jailer Muthuvel Pandian, played by Rajinikanth, and idol smugglers. The smugglers may seek revenge for the death of Varma, an idol smuggler killed by Muthuvel in the first film.
