Kamal Haasan confirms upcoming new film with Rajnikanth: "This was long coming"

During his appearance at the SIIMA Awards 2025 held in Dubai, Kamal Haasan spoke about possible collaboration with Rajnikanth.

Superstars Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, who have collaborated in several films together such as Pathinaru Vayathinilele, Avargal and more, are set to star together on the silver screen again.

During his appearance at the SIIMA Awards 2025 held in Dubai, Kamal Haasan spoke about possible collaboration with Rajnikanth.

When asked about whether the iconic duo will be sharing the screen anytime soon, the Thug Life actor said, "We don't know if it's a Tharamana Sambavam (wonderful occurence) but it's good if the audience likes it. If they're happy, we'll like it. Otherwise, we'll continue trying. This was long coming. We were separate because they gave one biscuit to both of us. But the half biscuit makes us both happy, so we'll come together."

“It is you all who thought/created the competition. We don't have any competition between us. It's important that we got the chance to do this. He is like that, so am I. It might be a surprise, business-wise, but we feel at least now it's happening. We always wanted to produce each other's films," he stated.

Although Kamal Haasan did not delve much into further details of the films, as per reports, the much-anticipated film will be helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan was last seen in Tamil film Thug Life, released in June this year. The film stars trisha Krishnan, Silambarasan TR, Abhirami, Sanya Malhotra, Aishwarya Lakshmi and others in key roles.

The film's plot centres on gang leader Sakthivel, who, following a bloody gang conflict, adopts Amaran. Sakthivel begins to have doubts about Amaran after he unexpectedly survives an assassination attempt years later. This starts a compelling conflict motivated by retaliation, loyalty, and lying.

On the other hand, Rajnikanth was recently seen in Tamil action-drama Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. the film featured powerful cameos including Nagarjuna and Aamir Khan.
