Rajinikanth’s team issues clarification on fake ‘Meet & Greet’ announcement: "Is completely unauthorised, fake"

In a strange turn of events, a ‘Meet and Greet’ contest promoted by Malaysian distribution company Malik Streams was announced without the consent of superstar Rajinikanth. On Saturday, the actor’s team issued a clarification, urging fans and the public not to be misled by the unauthorized announcement.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s publicist Riaz Ahmed said, “Dear All, we would like to clarify that the “Meet & Greet Thalaivar" contest that is currently being promoted by Malik Streams in Malaysia is completely unauthorised, fake, and has been announced without obtaining any prior permission from Thalaivar."

He further added, “We strongly advise fans and the public not to participate or engage in this misleading activity. We request your kind cooperation in spreading this clarification to ensure that fans are not misled."

Earlier, distribution firm Malik Streams shared an announcement poster on their official Instagram account that read, “COOLIE WATCH & WIN CONTEST. The chance of a lifetime: Meet & Greet with Superstar Rajinikanth awaits! All you have to do is: Purchase Coolie movie tickets, Post them on your Instagram feed (public account), Use #COOLIEWW2025. Only the Top 3 highest purchasers will win this golden opportunity."

Although tickets could be bought in multiple transactions, the distribution company had specified that they had to be for the same movie, date, showtime, theatre, and cinema location. It also made it clear that tickets dated August 21 or later would be the only ones accepted for contest entry.

Additionally, a comprehensive set of guidelines was distributed. Contestants were instructed to buy Coolie tickets and post them to their Instagram feeds, with the explicit disclaimer that Instagram Stories would not be allowed. Additionally, all posts had to include the designated hashtag #COOLIEWW2025, and only public accounts would be eligible.
