Actor Ram Charan is set to receive an honorary doctorate from Vels University in Chennai on April 13, a prestigious accolade previously bestowed upon individuals like Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and director Shankar. This recognition comes as a nod to his significant contributions to the entertainment industry and his ventures in entrepreneurship.

Since his film debut in 2007 with 'Chirutha', Ram Charan has earned widespread praise for his performances. Over the years, he has collected numerous awards, including Nandi Awards and Filmfare Awards, and was recently nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award for his role in the blockbuster film 'RRR.'

Vels University has a history of honoring notable figures across different sectors. Alongside Ram Charan, this year’s honorees include Dr. P Veeramuthuvel, a key coordinator for ISRO's Chandrayaan projects; Dr. GSK Velu, a healthcare pioneer and founder of Trivitron Healthcare; and Achanta Sharath Kamal, a celebrated table tennis player and Padma Shri awardee. Ram Charan’s fans are thrilled about this recognition, with many already affectionately referring to him as ‘Dr Ram Charan’ in celebratory messages and posts.

On the career front, Ram Charan was last seen in SS Rajamouli’s 'RRR', alongside Jr NTR and Alia Bhatt. This film, which offers a fictional take on the lives of freedom fighters Alluri Sitaramaraju and Komaram Bheem, achieved international acclaim. Its energetic track 'Naatu Naatu' not only captured hearts worldwide but also won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

Looking ahead, Ram Charan is busy with his latest project, 'Game Changer,' under the direction of Shankar. The film, also featuring Kiara Advani and other notable stars, is slated for release during the Dasara festival in September, though the exact date is yet to be confirmed. Additionally, he has agreed to star in a new film directed by Buchi Babu Sana, known for his work on 'Uppena.' This upcoming sports drama, set in a rural backdrop, will feature Janhvi Kapoor opposite Ram Charan, with music composed by AR Rahman. The production for this film is expected to commence shortly.
