In a recent interview, actor Ram Charan opened up about his approach to handling success and the pressure of living up to his father Chiranjeevi's legacy. The actor, best known for his role in SS Rajamouli's blockbuster film RRR, revealed that he did not leave his house for a week following the film's success. This surprising reaction highlights the unique way in which he processes the highs and lows of his career.
Talking to TOI, Ram Charan explained, "The good or bad part about me is that I don’t know how to take pressure. In fact, when a movie hasn’t done well, I have had a party. And when 'RRR' became a success, I remember for that one week, I didn’t come out of the house. I was relieved, relaxed and enjoyed family time. So, with me, it’s a contrast."
Ram Charan emphasised that he does not let the pressure affect him and instead focuses on enjoying the present moment. He mentioned, "When I see someone like my father in the house, I don’t know how to react to it. I believe what I am doing today and right now is important. I think I do what is right...as a son, father, brother...for that day. And if I can achieve it every day, I think I will achieve it in the years ahead."
The success of RRR was indeed monumental, not just for Ram Charan but for the entire cast and crew. The film, which also starred Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn, became a massive hit upon its release in 2022. The movie's music, particularly the song "Naatu Naatu" composed by MM Keeravaani, received widespread acclaim, winning a Golden Globe and an Oscar in 2023.
Despite the overwhelming success, Ram Charan remains grounded. He stated, "I’ve thrown parties when my films fail. It’s something that helps me stay balanced. Whether it’s a success or a failure, I believe in enjoying the process and the journey." This balanced approach to his career is indicative of his resilience and positive mindset.
Ram Charan's dedication to his craft and his ability to stay level-headed is also reflected in his future projects. He will soon be seen in Shankar's Game Changer alongside Kiara Advani. Additionally, he has films lined up with renowned directors Sukumar and Buchi Babu Sana, which are highly anticipated by his fans.
Being the son of a legendary actor like Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan has always had big shoes to fill. However, he chooses to focus on the present rather than being weighed down by expectations. "Instead of thinking about that, I believe in focusing on the present," he remarked. "I believe in what I am doing today and right now is important."
Ram Charan's approach to handling success and pressure is a testament to his maturity and understanding of the industry. His ability to stay grounded, enjoy family time, and maintain a positive outlook regardless of his films' outcomes speaks volumes about his character.
