In a joint Instagram post shared by Aamir Khan Productions and Laapataa Ladies, Pratibha Ranta, who plays the character of Jaya, opens up about her role and the challenges she encountered while working on the film. She highlights how she had to get accustomed to covering her face with a veil, wearing a saree at all times—something she had never done before—and even holding the veil with one hand throughout the film, which added a layer of complexity to her performance.

Pratibha also gave a tribute to every woman who live in rural area and work all day and night with saree on.

Pratibha stated, "So when we started shooting we had our face covered with a veil and in that moment I just realised that our performance went on becoming very nuanced. Because, we had to focus on slight details. Whether moving a hand or just holding the veil with one hand and covering our face because that's how women do in rural areas. And then moving without falling because we were wearing small heels and a saree. And I have never worn a as saree in my life and wearing saree there was actually quite difficult. But kudos to everyone in rural areas who are actually having that saree on, working day and night. I mean that's incredible."
