Fans and relatives gather at Dharmendra's Juhu bungalow, Aamir Khan, Esha Deol, Hema Malini, Bharat Takhtani visit Breach Candy Hospital

Dharmendra’s hospitalisation has drawn a wave of concern and emotion across Mumbai. The 89-year-old actor was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital earlier this week due to age-related complications. While doctors and the family have confirmed he is stable and responding to treatment, the mood outside the hospital and at his Juhu residence has been heavy, with fans, well-wishers and members of the film industry gathering to show support.

The Deol family has been moving back and forth from the hospital, taking turns to be by his side. Hema Malini, Sunny Deol and Esha Deol have maintained that Dharmendra is under observation and improving, asking the public to avoid rumours and panic. A spokesperson from Sunny Deol’s team released a brief statement requesting privacy and dismissing speculation that the actor had been placed on a ventilator, clarifying that his condition is stable.

The situation took a tense turn on Tuesday morning when false reports about Dharmendra’s health began circulating online. These claims were quickly refuted by the family. By afternoon, security at his Juhu bungalow had increased, with barricades set up to manage the growing crowd of fans, neighbours and media.

Several industry figures have visited either the hospital or the residence since Monday. Aamir Khan was seen arriving with his partner Gauri Spratt. While Aamir acknowledged the cameras with quiet nods, Gauri appeared uncomfortable with the attention and kept her head low while seated inside the vehicle.

Esha Deol, who has been at the hospital regularly, was spotted leaving with her mother Hema Malini late in the evening. Both appeared visibly emotional but composed. Abhay Deol also made a low-key visit, choosing to avoid media interaction entirely.

One of the more unexpected faces at the hospital was Esha’s former husband, Bharat Takhtani. Despite their separation in 2024, Bharat has maintained goodwill with the Deol family, and his presence suggested ongoing respect and personal concern. He was seen exiting the hospital quietly after paying a short visit. Bharat is currently in a relationship with Dubai-based entrepreneur Meghna Lakhani, but that did not overshadow the familiarity and shared history that brought him there.

Outside the Juhu bungalow, chants of “Get well soon Dharam ji” echoed throughout Tuesday. Some fans carried old posters, magazines and framed photographs. Many spoke about Dharmendra not simply as a star but as a part of their lives, someone they grew up watching and cheering for.
