The Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett recently made a subtle statement voicing her support for Gaza amidst the ongoing Israel and Palestine war.
The Australian actress made headlines not just for her grace and beauty but for also standing in support to the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

The ‘Ocean’s 8’ actress arrived at the 77th Cannes Film Festival to attend the premier of Sebastian Stan starrer ‘The Apprentice’. She wore an off shoulder Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture by Haider Ackermann. She completed the look by wearing an eloquent chain of pearls below the neckline wrapped around her shoulders.
The front of the dress was completely black and the back of the dress was white and the inner lining of the dress was green. Put together with the already red carpet, the colours seemed to indicate the flag of Palestine.
One user on X (Formerly Twitter) wrote, “Cate Blanchett in solidarity with the people of Palestine at the Cannes Film Festival.”
Another user called the ‘Tár’ star a “total legend”.
“This is the voice of conscience. Conscience is the most elegant dress that suits humanity,” another user chimed in.
Although, not everyone was on board with this theory. Many stated that the back of her dress was more of a light pink rather than white.
Last October, Blanchett was among the 55 prominent artists in the entertainment industry who signed an open letter (Artists4Ceasefire) to US President Joe Biden, demanding a ceasefire for the Israel Hamas War.
The letter, which was also singed by the likes of Kristen Stewart and Joaquin Phoenix, read - “We urge your administration, and all world leaders, to honour all the lives in the Holy Land and call for and facilitate a ceasefire without delay – an end to the bombing of Gaza, and the safe release of hostages.”
